Romaldkirk Parish Council

What we do

The Parish Council is made up of members of the local community who want to help.


There are 7 councillors to do the work of the Parish Council, and one employee - the Parish Clerk who works part-time.


There are currently no vacancies on the Council.

The Parish Council is responsible for:

  • Arranging the cutting of the grass on the village greens
  • Commenting on planning applications within the parish (although the authority which makes the decision is Durham County Council.


The Parish Council can also help with:

  • Talking to the County Council to arrange repairs of bus stops, public footpath repairs etc
  • Talking to landowners about dangerous trees, collapsed fences etc.


The Parish Council IS NOT responsible for:

  • Broken street lights
  • Pothole repairs
  • Reporting owners who fail to pick up after their dogs have fouled.
